Job Title: Associate Bakery Manager

Position Summary: The Associate Bakery Manager is responsible for supporting the Bakery Manager in establishing and maintaining systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing and preparing all food items in the Bakery, as well as menu planning and development. Assists in unit forecast and unit accounting. Coordinates and supervises personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control; labor scheduling, staffing and employee training. Conducts period inventory; performs other functions such as maintaining records to comply with government and accrediting agency standards.
Support the Bakery Manager in the ongoing daily operations of the Bakery while preserving, promoting and protecting the Family Express brand image. Ensures that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met.

Role Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in business related field
5 years previous experience in food production
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Digital literacy
Strong writing and communication skills
High degree of creativity

Build relationships, promote the Living Brand, and serve as a product/brand advocate.
Master each Bakery Associate position, as well as the Team Lead position, through hands on training and directly working in the positions.
Adhere to company policies and procedures
Develop, administer, implement and maintain all day-to-day operation policies and procedures of the bakery.
Plans, directs and controls all unit food service and resources to meet operating and financial goals.
Reduce food costs through training, cost control and labor management
Assist with the creation, supervision and maintenance of financial transaction data and reporting, including the preparation of yearly budgets.
Assist in developing a comprehensive strategy and decision-making criteria for all new product developments, scheduled product introductions, promotions, pricing, and merchandising of all food service products.
Plans, direct and coordinates the activities of production employees in the bakery
Assist in administering and directing all aspects of the bakery including hiring, coaching, training and development of culturally compatible staff.
In connection with the DC Procurement Manager, responsible for purchasing and receiving of food and supplies, as well as monitoring inventory. Provides for and maintains the health and safety of the employees and general public
Ensure that all vendors are aware of and comply with the Family Express Corporation vendor policy
Maintains food production records
Develop formulations and production schedules which maximize customer appeal while minimizing ingredient and labor costs
Control inventory and acquisition costs
Devotes 80% of time to managing bakery production by working in the bakery
Maintain a safe work environment
Dedication to process improvement
Provide appropriate reporting of risk-related information to Management, Operations and Accounting
Completes any and all scheduled performance reviews
In the absence of the Quality and Safety Manager, the Production Manager is the Quality and Safety Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: Bakery Team Leads and Bakery Associates report to this position.
Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell. Work for prolonged periods in a refrigerated environment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Work environment: Must have flexibility, all days of the week, when necessary. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures. Exposure to cleaning solvents.
Travel: Minimal travel outside of daily travel to Family Express locations is expected for this position.
