Position Summary
The Department of Finance at MSU Denver invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This position is anine-month, full-time tenure track appointment to begin August 2024. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to teach upper division classes incorporate finance as well as undergraduate coursesin the banking degree.Inaddition, this candidate will be required to engage in meaningfulprofessional development activities as evidenced byproduction of intellectualcontributions to be sharedwith the wider academic and professionalcommunities. Further, the successful candidate will be expected to engage inservice activities tobenefit the department, college,and/or university.
In particular, the successful candidate for this position will be expectedto hold a Ph.D. in Finance with a strong emphasis inboth corporate finance andbanking, as evidenced by the graduate transcripts. Conducting andpublishingresearch in the field ofBanking and Financial Institutions is anexpectation in this position. Courses taught can be expected toincludeManagerial Finance, Introduction to Banking, Banking Operations,Markets and Institutions.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach according to universityspecified polices using a variety of instructional modes andcourses that fitthe needs of the department. Normal course load in this position is fourcourses every semester, but a temporary reduction to 3+3 will be madeavailable for the successful candidate's first year.Consistently high levelsof teaching performance, as evidenced by student ratings ofinstruction willbe a key consideration in reappointment. The successful candidate for thisposition will be expected to teach upper-division courses incorporate financeand have the ability to teach other courses in the Banking program as requiredto support that major.
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in activities that enhancethe faculty member's knowledge base and skill set, areshared with thewider academic community, and result in the cultivation of new concepts andmaterial that can then be delivered in theclassroom. Such intellectualcontributions are expected in this position and will be a key condition ofreappointment.

Preferred Qualifications
Completed Ph.D. in Finance, with a strong emphasis inCorporate Finance andBanking coursework (ABD status considered)
Professional banking industry experience will be a plus
The ability to teach upper division corporatefinance courses and the abilityto document effective teaching and instruction in university-level courses
A documented track record of developing intellectual and scholarlycontributions that have been shared with the wider academiccommunity (or thedemonstrated ability to develop such contributions)
Experience teaching in an online environment using Canvas or other similarlearning management system
