FTE: 1.000000 Shift:Shift 2 About SICU: The SICU is a 21 bed multispecialty ICU that caresfor some of the most critically ill patients in the state of Wisconsinand Northern IL. Our patient population includes critically illpatients: trauma surgery, acute care surgery, surgical oncology,thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, neurology andneurosurgery, all of whom require the highest level of monitoring andspecialized nursing care that can be provided. Job Summary: TheAssistant Nurse Manager supports and collaborates with the Nurse Managerby overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of their assignedunit(s). This individual must be able to apply principles of leadershipand human relations in the overall supervision and coordination ofpatient care and personnel, with primary accountability during theoff-shifts. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager withmaintaining unit specific standards of practice based on currentliterature and professional standards of practice. This person may bedelegated additional responsibilities as needed in the absence of theNurse Manager. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Twoyears of clinical practice required which could include a combination ofnursing, nursing support patient care experience. or a combination ofclinical patient care experience with prior clinical or non-clinicalleadership experience. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Bachelors degree innursing is required. Master\'s degree is preferred.SPECIAL SKILLSDESCRIPTION: Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with andmaintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel.Analytical skills necessary to prepare nursing care plans, outcomemanagement tools, statistical reports, implement effective nursing careand develop solutions to problems concerning patients\' mental orphysical well-being. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention todetail for up to 80% of work time when resolving patient care problemsand dealing with patients and their families, often during stressfulsituations.
