  As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will provide administrative, clerical, and practical support for the nurse manager. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:

  Facilitating communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments.

  Ensuring continuity of patient care information between shifts, coordinates patient admitting, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues.

  Reviewing major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.

  Providing clinical supervision to nursing personnel and other assigned nursing support personnel providing care to Home Care and/or Hospice patients.

  The potential future caregiver is someone who:

  Can schedule and manage tasks effectively.

  Has written and verbal communication skills.

  Has teamwork and motivational skills.

  This is a full-time position, 50% in the field (caring for patients in their homes and/or supervising staff) and 50% working from home.

  This position qualifies for the nursing student loan repayment program.

  Job Responsibilities:

  Provides direction and support to the clinical field staff. Supervises starts of care, resumptions of care and routine visits. Conducts assessment of patient's needs, and initiates nursing care plans. Evaluates and documents patient progress.

  Facilitates the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the geographic area.

  Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services.

  Serves as a liaison between the nursing leadership, staff and other areas within the organization. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services.

  Oversees nursing personnel and patient care providers to ensure quality of care. Anticipates and resolves patient care issues. Ensures continuity of patient care by actively participating in and facilitating communication and collaboration among and between department staff and other departments re: operational issues. Reviews major operational patient care issues with the nursing leadership.

  Provides ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned area. Counsels employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, collaborates in monitoring attendance issues. Alerts nursing leadership of significant clinical or other performance issues.

  Participates in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees.

  Monitors the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. Administers Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures.

  Monitors daily clinical operations (patient flow, staffing, supplies, etc.). May prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.

  Participates in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives; participates in department and committees as assigned.

  Assists in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Education:

  Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.Certifications:

  Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio

  Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association certification required

  Valid Ohio Driver's license upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter

  Must have reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance coverage with 100,000/$300,000 coverage upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter

  Competencies (Complexity of Work):

  Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills; good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organization skills.

  Within scope of job, requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

  Work Experience:

  Minimum of three year's clinical experience; three years in specialty (home health, hospice) preferred.Physical Requirements:

  Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
