The Assistant Health & Safety Specialist provides support to ensure compliance with applicable standards, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.Required Education & Experience:*Bachelor's degree in a related field of science*At least two years of directly related experience in operational health physics, biology, chemistry, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety or related field.*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required Skills & Abilities:*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite programs.*Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent listening skills.*Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.*Must be able to move freely in small and large spaces, lift heavy objects over twenty-five lbs. and wear respiratory protective devices.*Strong attention to detail.*Demonstrated ability to prioritize well and focus on the completion of tasks while under stress of a demanding work schedule.*Must have a valid driver's license.*Must be available for 24 hour on-call emergency response.This position requires a detailed background check and FBI finger printing.This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
