Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director for the Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion (ODAI) at CU Anschutz, we seek a dynamic Assistant Director (AD) to join our team. The AD is responsible for the management of day-to-day office operations and oversight of accommodation decision-making. Working with the Director and campus community to develop strategic goals for the CU Anschutz ODAI team that ensure best practice in operations, the AD will provide student and faculty support in the implementation of accommodations, including assistive and adaptive technology, as warranted.
This position consists of direct support to students, disability-related and education outreach to academic departments as well as outside communities, and supervision of employees. This role will be instrumental in creating an exceptional student and faculty experience. The AD must be able to partner with all areas of the university community and implement best practices regarding policy and practices on a health science campus.
The AD will help promote a vibrant, diverse and inclusive, co-curricular learning environment.
Examples of Work Performed:
Campus & Education Accessibility:
In collaboration with Director, audits current policies, procedures, practices, and systems to determine how to make ODAI more efficient and effective.
Maintains and updates ODAI's website to provide resources to students, faculty, and staff.
Responsible for supporting strategic planning initiatives and monitoring the overall accessibility (both programmatic and physical) of the Anschutz Medical Campus.
Manages specific projects/programs related to campus accessibility.
Monitors best practices in health science education accessibility and universal design to promote best practices within ODAI and across the Anschutz campus.
Develops training and other programming to be provided to students, faculty, and staff.
Provides operational support and supervision to the ODAI staff:
Provides oversight and supervision of access coordinator decision-making.
Oversees the implementation of approved academic accommodations.
Manages confidential student database and reports metrics as requested.
Liaisons with Schools, Faculty, Course Coordinators, IT, and Director as needed.
Oversees assistive and adaptive technology needs for students, including maintaining and distributing software licenses and managing relationships with the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering.
Oversees testing accommodations process, including supervision of the Accessible Testing Coordinator.
Assists with acute interventions and decision-making in consultation with Director and serves as the Director's designee when needed.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, health sciences, higher education, counseling, student affairs, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Four or more years of experience working in disability services or accommodations in a post-secondary or related setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master degree in education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or related field, or. J.D.
Experience working with students in a health-science campus setting or working in a healthcare setting.
Experience reviewing medical and/or psychological documentation and working through an interactive process for recommending accommodations.
Experience using Accessible Information Management (AIM) software for accommodation management.

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
Ability to maintain a database for tracking requests and accommodations.
Ability to mediate regarding disabilities, accommodations, and/or grievances.
Knowledge: Applicable federal and state laws, i.e. Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act & Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act along with relevant case law pertaining to disability in higher education. The types of accommodations available for students with disabilities in the postsecondary setting.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting hiring range for this position has been established as: $64,821 - $70,000.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
