Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) reports to the Senior Director of Student Health and Wellness. These positions work collaboratively to provide leadership to CAPS with the goal of providing high quality mental health and wellness services to meet the needs of a broad and diverse student body and serve as an integral part of a campus environment where positive mental health and wellness is promoted and supported. The Assistant Director of CAPS provides clinical services to a reduced caseload of students, provides clinical and administrative supervision to staff and student interns, and engages with the campus community as an advocate for student mental health and wellness. Additionally, the Assistant Director serves as back up for the Senior Director of Student Health and Wellness for the Counseling Center when needed.

Responsibilities*
Oversee department clinical operations and assessment for counseling center functions, including clinical services, outreach programming, and intern training program activities
Assist the Senior Director of Student Health and Wellness to provide vision, strategic planning, and assessment for the center to advance department and division goals
Supervise and support the professional development of clinical staff
Ensure that staff members are informed of, and adhering to ethical, legal, and both internal and external policy related to providing mental health services
Represent the department on campus committees
Assist with the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for the counseling center
Assist Senior Director to develop and assess annual and long-term goals of the department
Contribute to the center's annual report and provide department budget recommendations
Support accreditation by International Association of Counseling Services
Oversee the development of marketing and resource materials for the department
Provide clinical assessment and counseling for a diverse population of students with a variety of mental health concerns, including individual, group, couples, and crisis counseling
Maintain a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria, mental health trends amongst the college student population, and recommended therapeutic interventions
Oversee the delivery of counseling services to individual students, couples, and groups, and ensure the delivery of high-quality mental healthcare for all students
Develop and administer center protocols and procedures in keeping with current best practices for university and college counseling centers
Coordinate case management, emergency and crisis response procedures
Participate in after hours on-call rotation
Coordinate consultation, education, prevention, and outreach services to faculty, staff, and students on developmental and mental health concerns, crisis intervention, harm reduction, and development issues related to health and wellness
Collaborate with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs and assist Senior Director to facilitate campus and community partnerships to ensure the provision of adequate mental health services that support student development.
Develop relationships with local mental health and medical professionals
Required Qualifications*
Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or social work
Licensed in the state of Michigan or licensed in another state with the ability to meet requirements for licensure in the state of Michigan
Five or more years of clinical experience providing mental health services to college-aged students. Experience must include assessing, diagnosing, and treating common mental health concerns and issues and developmental concerns in the college student population
Certification and/or training in the provisions of professional clinical supervision
At least one year of demonstrated administrative experience that is directly relevant to the job duties of this position.

Work Schedule
Hybrid:
A hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.
