  Job Type: Officer of AdministrationRegular/Temporary: RegularHours Per Week: 35Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  Position Summary

  The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement promotes and nurtures a vibrant climate of inclusive excellence through creative collaboration with University partners. Our primary focus is on fostering faculty development, diversity, planning and community-building initiatives that will allow faculty to advance and thrive.

  Reporting to the Associate Provost for Faculty Diversity and Inclusive Pathways, the Assistant Director will assist with the planning, development, and implementation, working in close collaboration with our faculty advancement team. Characteristic responsibilities and duties include:

  Responsibilities

  Finance Management:

  Work with the Associate Provost to manage the University's $100M+ Faculty Diversity Initiative portfolio, including but not limited to faculty recruitment, pathways, junior faculty grants and mid-career grants programs. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Associate Provost in the management of these programs, including preparing, disseminating and following up on pre- and post-award documents and correspondence; preparing budget. Research/Publications:

  Compile and synthesize research on a wide range of diversity-related topics. In collaboration with the Associate Provost, the Assistant Director works to translate this research into resources and publications for faculty and other audiences, including the development of the office's annual reports for internal and external constituents. Faculty Data Analysis and Presentations:

  Collaborate with the Associate Provost to develop and implement the strategic plan for the communication and dissemination of faculty data trends.Develop data dashboards, visualizations, presentations and other communications highlighting faculty diversity trends here at Columbia and in relation to national trends.Communications:

  Manage the diversity and inclusion website updates and maintenance as well as other related social media content (e.g., Facebook, X).

  Curate items from national, local and internal publications and offer suggestions for items to be highlighted on the office's website, in social media posts, in a regular newsletter and/or in more extensive pieces.

  Manage collaborative communications projects involving the Provost's Office, President's Office and other internal staff.

  Meetings and Events:

  Organize meetings involving the Provost, Vice Provosts, and other senior faculty/administrators (most notably, the Provost's Advisory Council for the Enhancement of Faculty Diversity and its working groups).

  Manage events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Office, including vendor outreach, faculty luncheons, major conferences and special events.

  Prepares materials for speakers and presenters, including senior faculty and administrators.

  Trainings and Briefings:

  Collaborate with partners to develop and deliver trainings and briefings on topics including implicit bias, imposter syndrome and related topics.

  Other related duties as requires

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum three years related experience in a university or other complex organization required.

  Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

  High level of discretion and ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to work with all levels of administrative staff, faculty, and external constituents. Demonstrated track record of providing project management, data analysis and/or research support. Excellent writing skills required, including the ability to write well for various audiences. Skilled in the use of Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency with social media (website management, Facebook, X) and developing compelling data visualizations in an academic environment desirable.
