  Effective interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to manage relationships with a diverse group of volunteers and staff in a collaborative manner.

  The ability to innovate, think strategically, and conceptually. Can manage multiple competing priorities with a high level of attention to detail and discretion - a self-starter with the ability to problem solve efficiently and effectively.

  An understanding of risk management and confidentiality needs.

  Proficiency with Excel, including working knowledge of lookups, pivot tables, and conditional formatting.

  Experience with any of the following programs is not required, but a plus: Advance, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, AlumniMagnet, HTML, and/or CSS.

  As Assistant Director, Digital Engagement you will:

  • Independently oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, and development of the AlumniMagnet platform, which serves as Harvard Law School alumni engagement software.

  Serve as the primary vendor contact; work with the vendor to develop, test, and implement new solutions to ensure the continued effectiveness of the platform.

  Serve as the primary manager with alumni volunteers who utilize the system, including those interested in starting a new Club or SIG.

  Develop in-depth training for volunteers and staff; provide guidance, troubleshooting, and recommended best practices on using the platform. Revise and implement policies and procedures as needed.

  Meet weekly with the vendor to discuss alumni feedback, platform needs, and growth opportunities.

  • Lead the triage and resolution of alumni issues in the digital engagement platform to ensure volunteers are supported efficiently and effectively; research new ways to improve digital alumni engagement and explore opportunities to support growth.

  • Partner with colleagues across the HLS Alumni Center and Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) to ensure the digital engagement platform and alumni volunteer actions are compliant with the Harvard University and Harvard Law School privacy, security, and data feed operations.

  • Develop and implement best practices, training guides, and security protocols for HLSA Club and SIGs virtual events and digital presence; strategize ways to improve functionality and reporting within the digital engagement platform.

  • Manage logistics for virtual HLSA events and other Alumni Relations programs, including event registration, tracking attendance, integration of payment systems, managing vendors, and coordinating closed captioning services and post-production efforts.

  • Manage the distribution, communications, data collection, and synthesis of the annual survey (Certification) to the HLSA Clubs and SIGs.

  • In collaboration with the Senior Associate Director, Alumni Relations, develop reports and metrics on overall alumni engagement and outreach, including an annual report presented to HLSA volunteer leadership and HLS Alumni Center staff.

  • Evaluate the health of HLSA Clubs or SIGs with quantitative data and analysis to advise on strategic conversations with HLSA volunteers and Alumni Relations staff.

  • Coordinate and support other Alumni Relations projects as needed through the Harvard Law School Association (HLSA) and general alumni events.

  The Harvard Law School Alumni Relations office is responsible for planning, developing, and executing a variety of high-level alumni engagement programs to strengthen connections between the Law School and its alumni. Through our programs, communications, events, and Class/Affinity reunion activities, and in coordination with the Harvard Law School Association (HLSA) and the network of Alumni Clubs and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), we strive to foster relationships that promote lifelong connections throughout the student-to-alumni lifecycle.

  We are seeking an Assistant Director, Digital Engagement who will oversee the digital engagement platform for the Harvard Law School Association (HLSA). The HLSA is a global network of 40+ Clubs and SIGs worldwide. The Assistant Director would manage the websites and communication tools that host the business operations of these alumni organizations. In addition, this position serves as the primary relationship manager for alumni volunteers who utilize our online engagement platform, provide training and guidance to alumni, and seek ways to continually enhance the end-user experience.

  Working within a larger Alumni Relations team, we are looking for an independent, tech-savvy, self-starter who can also be an integral member of a dynamic team.
