  From your PASSION to ours

  As an Assistant Category Manager, you are responsible for all elements of category management, within the Dairy Retail division, delivering insight and best-in-class execution for key accounts. You play a pivotal role in the development of category plans and are responsible for making actionable recommendations through the application of strong, proactive data analytics and consumer/shopper insights. Provide compelling presentations and other information in support of sales and category growth. The Asst. Category Manger is a data research expert on key LAG categories, the customers and has comprehensive knowledge of analyzing key market data. The Asst. Category Manager identifies opportunities and addresses both the manufacturers and the customers' needs to optimize category and item performance in terms of sales trends and market share. This position qualifies for onsite / hybrid and can belocated either in Buffalo, NY, or New York City.

  Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Perform category and channel analysis for National Accounts-WEST, develop business plans and strategies for achieving category volume, and market share including competitive analysis to identify opportunities and challenges.

  • Create customer presentations with data and insights using internal research, data analytics, and consumer/shopper insights, alongside syndicated data for customer performance reviews and recommendations. Participate where necessary in presentations to key customers as the 'Category Expert'.

  • Analyze and evaluate demographic profiles and consumer behavior in individual accounts/categories and groups of accounts/ categories.

  • Coordinate category management and Marketing activities with the Trade Marketing and the National Account Team Leader.

  • Develop category strategies, tactics, and plans aligned with product and corporate strategies and review the category plan to track progress and make adjustments. provide compelling presentations and other information in support of sales and category growth and guidance to other team members

  • Work efficiently to respond to urgent requests for information and presentation support from the field to drive growth.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Team on National Accounts to align price and promotional strategies to drive growth.

  • Continually educates the customer business teams on the category and brand in market performance and ongoing assessment of assigned Business’ Key Performance Indices (KPIs).

  • Manages the data sources and systems that support the Trade Marking, Sales, and Marketing Teams. Develops a strong knowledge of the various tools available to assist in providing the company & customer a base of knowledge to further support market activities.

  • 20% Travel and extended or off work hours may be required; specifically in the Western region

  Education & Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree, Bachelor's preferred

  • 2 years of Category Management experience with a leading food manufacturer

  • 2-3 years of sales experience with working knowledge of US retailers

  Specialized Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the CPG industry a plus.

  • Experience working with syndicated data such as IRI/Circana or Nielsen a plus

  Skills/Abilities

  • Should have a strong systems orientation and needs to be familiar with computer systems to support category development activities.

  • Proven track record of creating compelling and successful sales presentations tailored to individual customers and effectively communicating programs to the field sales team. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry data (IRI, Nielsen, shipments, etc).

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

  Salary Description

  $75,000 - $100,000 annual
