About Assistant Buyer ( Hybrid Opportunity - Manchester, CT)

  The Assistant Buyer is a growth position within the Bob’s Discount Furniture Merchandising Team’s training ground for potential buyers. This individual will work closely with a respective Buyer(s), assisting and supporting in all aspects of the merchandising selection and procurement process. The Assistant Buyer II(s) is ultimately expected to develop the skills necessary to make some independent buying/merchandising decisions. It is of paramount importance that the Merchandising Assistant Buyer upholds the principles of honesty, integrity and fairness when interacting with employees, suppliers and customers. This role will follow a hybrid schedule, with two days on-site in our Manchester, CT Home Office.

  Job Responsibilities

  Maintain accurate assortment plans in conjunction with the Buyer

  Facilitate the timely placement and transition of product assortments

  Work with the Buyer and the replenishment team to maintain inventory integrity and proper merchandise flow

  Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the merchandising department

  Coordinate all facets of merchandise procurement after the buying decision is finalized including, but not limited to:

  SKUing all goods in a manner that adheres to Bob’s SOP

  Sample coordination -- Initial and marketing

  Pricing coordination

  Vendor agreements (COI, compliance, etc)

  All Inter-organization communication

  Swatch/sales aid procurement and distribution

  Merchandise transfers

  Merchandise Announcements

  Track merchandise shipments of high importance (advertised items, new store samples, etc)

  Obtain and maintain a complete understanding of merchandise and classification performance

  Maintain and distribute an accurate report detailing of all incoming placements, discontinued products and items to watch

  Cultivate positive relationships between the department and the other departments within Bob’s Discount Furniture (timely responsiveness, etc)

  Develop and foster positive/strong vendor relationships

  Required travel

  Required Qualifications

  Excellent communication skills -- both verbal and written

  2+ years’ experience as Assistant Buyer

  High attention to detail

  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong sense of urgency

  Self-directed individual who can work independently and yet collaborate with team members cross-functionally as necessary

  Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills

  Excellent organizational skills with ability to plan and prioritize in a high volume environment with competing demands

  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint in particular

  Good identification of key causes -- Identifying the causal factors that must be changed to achieve a goal

  Preferred Qualifications

  Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree

  Retail or analytical training or experience

  Knowledge of furniture and accessories

  Expected Base Pay Not Including Potential Commissions, Incentive, Bonus, etc. Opportunities:
