Position Data:
Title:Asset Development Specialist
Grade: 7 Exempt: Non-exempt X
Immediate Supervisor:Housing and Community Development Deputy Director
Basic Function or Position Summary:
Responsible for financial literacy, homeownership, credit counseling, debt restructuring, foreclosure prevention and bankruptcy services. Position also includes supporting customers in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rental/Homeownership Subsidy Program and other tenant based services.Hours per week: 35 Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Salary $18.71-$19.71/hourly
Security Clearance:CAPTAIN Security Access level 4, V, R
Requirements
Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
• Provide the following services for customers
o Assist in development of a plan to attain customer’s housing and asset goals that is consistent with the customer’s other life goals and integrated with other services the customer receives
o Financial literacy
o Credit/debt counseling
o Homeownership pre-purchase counseling
o Post homeownership counseling
o Default/foreclosure prevention
o Bankruptcy counseling
o Housing Analysis
o Housing searches
• Track and report customer progress along asset continuum
• Track service data, input and maintain program tracking database. Reporting and data analysis as needed
• Comprehensive knowledge of divisional service options
• Ability to articulate individual accountability and responsibility in a positive way - thus facilitating customer buy-in
• Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
• Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance
• Promotes agency mission
• Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting self-sufficiency.
• Participates in the larger team of the agency through committee structures, planning, policy development and volunteerism

External:Customers, Lenders, Creditors
Supervisory Scope: N/A
Organizational Responsibilities:
Participates in all management systems, may function on agency supportive committees, attends agency functions and all other assignments as needed
Knowledge, Skills Required:
• Associates degree and minimum one year experience in human, housing or financial services required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Strong communication skills/verbal and written
• Strong Computer Skills
• Good interpersonal skills: consistent even attitude towards all customers
• Strong customer engagement and communication skills
• Bilingual preferred
• Good organizational skills, timely reporting
• Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving ability
• Good written skills
Special Requirements:
• Current valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Flexibility in work schedule
• Ability to pass NYS criminal background clearance upon hire and every 5 years thereafter
• Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
• Works compassionately with a diverse population
• Experience navigating community programs
