Position Summary
As a non-tenure track faculty member, reporting to the Associate Dean forStudent and Scholar Services of University of Denver Libraries, the Arts &Humanities Librarian, serves as the liaison for many of the faculties acrossthe arts and humanities, with responsibility for provision of research,instruction, and collection development in those areas.
Participating fully as part of the Reference Department, the Arts &Humanities Librarian provides general and specialized consultations forstudents, faculty, and staff in the Research Center, teaches informationliteracy workshops in assigned disciplines, and participates ininstructional programming for first-year foundational courses. This positionis also responsible for building diverse collections to meet the research andcurricular needs of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in thearts and humanities, and for managing the collections budgets in the areasassigned. The librarian actively engages in scholarly activities throughresearch and publication and participates in professional organizations, aswell as library and campus committees. Appointment will be made at the rank ofAssistant or Associate Professor, non-tenure track.
All members of the Professorial Series in University Libraries are required togo through contract renewal and promotion according to the Library FacultyGuidelines. Essential Functions
Participate as a member of the Reference Department in a collaborativeorganization and attend regular meetings.Participate in reference and instructional services delivery, with specialemphasis on arts and humanities disciplines, but across all content areaswhen needed, instructing users on a variety of electronic and print sourcesincluding occasional evening and weekend classes.Provide research consultations with students, faculty, and staff at theResearch Center and remotely.Serve as a liaison to arts and humanities departments in the College ofArts, Humanities & Social Sciences (which may include: Art and ArtHistory; Asian Studies; Emergent Digital Practices; English and LiteraryArts; History; Languages, Literatures and Cultures; Philosophy;Religious Studies; and Spanish Language, Literary and Cultural Studies).Build diverse collec ions to meet the research and curricular needs ofundergraduate and graduate students and faculty in assigned areas.Create and maintain online tools to support the research, teaching, andlearning of arts and humanities students and faculty.Intentionally integrate equity and inclusiveness into all aspects of theirwork.Provide support and mentoring of graduate student workers at the ResearchCenter Desk.Ability to actively engage in the library organization, includingleadership and participation in teams, task forces, and committees,working professionally in support of colleagues, willingly stepping intoother roles when needed, and sharing responsibility as a faculty member inthe library's mission, goals, programs, and plans.Serve on library and campus committees.Engage in scholarly activities including research, publications, andpresentations.Participate in national and regional professional organizations.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
