Teacher Art Springfield, MA, US Requisition ID: 1160 Responsibilities:Provide effective in-person, high quality, culturally responsiveinstruction in the arts to youth assigned to DYS. Actively participatein all professional development and training activities. Implementeffective instructional strategies and approved curricula as directedand across assigned programs as scheduled. Support youth learning in andthrough the arts across multiple concentrations of study, including, asappropriate, High School equivalency preparation, diploma,post-secondary coursework, career readiness. Use students\' educationbackground and related assessments to plan, co-plan, and delivereffective arts instruction accessible to all learners. Proctor mandatedassessments (MCAS, GAIN, etc.) within the educational setting and ensurethe level of security and confidentiality as outlined by the Departmentof Education. Administer various assessments, surveys, and evaluationsto students as indicated by their supervisor and maintain appropriatestudent records (Aspen, JJEMS, other). Provide a personalized andculturally responsive approach to education, including utilization ofsuch strategies and methods as blended learning, G-Suite,student-teacher conferences, portfolio development, education and careerplanning, student voice, etc. Curate blended learning experiences usingG-Suite/Google Classroom and/or other online resources as directed bythe supervisor. Facilitate youth engagement and participation in suchvarious arts and creative expression learning activities as the annualyouth arts showcase. To develop and maintain mini-unit plans andassociated lesson plans and have available for review at all times.Participate in up to three (3) parent/teacher conference evening openhouses. Maintain an effective, creative, culturally responsive, balancedlearning environment that meets the needs of all students. Substituteclasses, in-person, as indicated by regional supervisor or designee.Collaborate with site team in scheduling, integration of curriculum, andbehavioral procedures. Maintain effective/positive relationships withCES, DYS, Providers, and all other colleagues and supervisors.Participate in all staff development indicated by supervisor. Inconjunction with the Supervisor, develop and meet a professionaldevelopment plan leading to continued licensure. Maintain oversight ofall arts classroom equipment and curriculum materials. Qualifications:Bachelor\'s Degree from accredited College or University. CurrentMassachusetts secondary level teacher licensure in one of the followingareas aligned to teaching assignment: Visual Art (5-12), Theatre (alllevels). Additional licenses will be considered based on programmaticneed. Have demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.Valid driver\'s license and reliable vehicle are required. PreferredQualifications: Master?s Degree from an accredited College orUniversity. Successful teaching experience with adolescents placedat-risk Work Conditions: Ability to handle interruptions and maintainproductivity. Ability to work with diverse personalities. This positionincludes routine travel with mileage reimbursement Skilled in workingboth independently and collaboratively.
