ABOUT THE ROLE
Primarily responsible for the attainment of production and distribution objectives for assigned ready mix plants; effective management and mentoring of subordinates to attain quality and productivity targets, compliance with legislative requirements, plant rules, safe work procedures, practices, and work instructions; performs various OH&S program activities such as inspections, training, and incident investigations; provides plant and onsite customer service; meets financial targets and budget objectives; interfaces with other functional groups to maintain safe and efficient facilities and processes, carry out employee and labor relations activities as required, works with key product, materials, and services suppliers to ensure business needs are adequately addressed, manages operational purchasing requirements, delivers on CAPEX and special projects as business needs exist, oversees materials inventory ordering, control, and administration, and works to instill a culture of continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU'll BE DOING
Ensures Environmental and Health Safety standards are met by providing the necessary resources to promote and support Company programs, policies and practices; ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained; conducting workplace inspections, incident investigation, safe work training; providing supporting documentation and reporting, as required.
Achieve the Plant strategic objectives by planning, implementing, directing and monitoring the various activities at the plant level.
Maintains plant performance objectives by providing direction and monitoring the various activities at the plant level. Maintains Plant staff performance objectives by providing clear work direction and expectations, providing tools required for performance, supporting and coaching employees; answering grievances, planning, monitoring and appraising performance objectives.
Ensures product quality and expected customer services levels are met for assigned operational sites.
Achieves Financial Objectives by assisting regional manager in budget planning, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
Complies with Federal, State and Local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on an as needed basis.
Ensures a culture built with honesty and integrity, and compliance with company requirements.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
Works directly with safety and environmental advisers to ensure plant performance is aligned with regulatory and company expectations for performance.
Maintains regular contact with the Sales Manager and Distribution Manager to determine customer service and driver staffing required to meet customer demands.
Interfaces regularly with Human Resources to communicate changes in staffing requirements, and to coordinate efforts for improving and addressing labor relations issues Works with the quality control team to
ensure adequate plant performance, and assist with product quality troubleshooting as needed.
Works directly with regional controllers to better address business financial needs, including cost analysis, inventory management, budgeting, and financial planning.
Works with procurement managers to ensure operational spending is aligned with company expectations
Regularly communicates via phone, email, or in person with customers, community members, and business stakehold to ensure service expectations are met and exceeded.
Maintains Plant Operations by coordinating requirements with plant engineering/maintenance, fleet, operations, and dispatch departments.
Ensures proper administration/interpretation of Collective Bargaining Agreements by having a clear understanding of the collective agreements and promoting positive working conditions, and a team spirit within the plant and Union officials
Contributes to Team Effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of equivalent experience.
Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of Supervisory Experience. Prior experience in distribution or logistics
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (i.e. SAP), Google mail, and the Microsoft Suite to include PowerPoint, Excel and Word, and an aptitude for specialized computer software and applications.
Travel Requirements: Local travel required.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
