Position: Appraiser

　　Duties: Appraises all types of real property, including residential(single-family and multifamily), new construction, commercial,agricultural and vacant property for tax assessment purposes. Conducts fieldinspections on new or existing personal and business properties for propertytax assessment. Contacts property owners to collect data needed for theclassification of land, buildings, mobile homes or other types of realproperty. Conducts measurements, takes photographs and sketchesarea(s). Makes quality judgments and special condition judgments ofproperties. Determines economic area factors, neighborhood factors and landusability as variables for property tax assessment. Interacts withcitizens, establishes a good working rapport and provides informationconcerning market value and approaches taken and defends values during protestperiods. Assists with deed transfers and land splits. Conducts informalhearings with taxpayers during the 30-day annual protest period, explainsproperty valuation and procedures, and reviews individual accounts and makesrecommendation for correction or denial.May be required to analyze comparable properties to assist in the valuationprocess. Prepares reports on field inspections to be used during theappraisal process.
