We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Applied Machine Learning Manager to lead Machine Learning (ML) efforts to detect cybersecurity threats at scale within Email. This role involves overseeing the implementation and maintenance of our Machine Learning stack and pipelines, understanding how ML is being deployed and developed impacts customer protection, and managing a diverse team of Data Scientists, ML engineers and Software developers.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of ML engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Provide technical guidance and support in the development and deployment of secure software applications, particularly in C# and Python environments.
Develop and implement comprehensive ML strategies and policies for Email security.
Manage and oversee the operation of machine learning (ML) models at scale, ensuring their efficiency and effectiveness in threat detection and response.
Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats, and adapt strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with partner teams and other stakeholders to align effectiveness measures with organizational goals.
Help with regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) people management experience.
5+ years of experience in Machine Learning (ML), with a background in managing ML models at scale.
2+ years of experience in programming languages, especially C# and Python.
Other Qualifications
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

5+ years people management experience.
5+ years experience creating publications (e.g., patents, libraries, peer-reviewed academic papers).
2+ years experience presenting at conferences or other events in the outside research/industry community as an invited speaker.
5+ years experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).
3+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.
3+ years experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.
Experience leading and managing ML teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Applied Sciences M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
