Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: -BA/BS in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, animal/veterinary science, or similar or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. -Familiarity/experience with animal models of research -Has, or willing to seek AALAS accreditation (ALAT/LAT) -Ability to form strong working relationships with various intra and extramural stakeholders -Academic coursework in anatomy, physiology, primatology or similar Preferred Qualifications: -Familiarity with the pathology and treatment of Parkinson's disease -Hands-on experience training animals for a given purpose, or coursework in behavioral theory/behaviorism -Experience collecting electro/neurophysiological data from an animal population About the Department The Neuromodulation Research Center (NMRC) seeks a qualified and compassionate animal core researcher to join its interdisciplinary team working in the University of Minnesota Department of Neurology. This position will support the NMRC's ongoing research in deep brain stimulation (DBS) to provide therapeutic relief for those suffering with movement disorders: chiefly, Parkinson's disease. The successful candidate will enforce, refine, and devise welfare and behavioral paradigms to support research and ensure animal health in a fashion consistent with best working standards. This position supports numerous researchers and delivers logistical support to multiple ongoing studies.
