What Commercial Operations contributes to BD

The mission of the Commercial & Customer Operations (CCO) Center of Excellence (CoE) is to serve as a trusted strategic partner that enables the US Region and business units to drive profitable commercial growth by delivering differentiated value, enabling capabilities, and simplified processes that exceed the needs of our stakeholders and improve customer experience. CCO aims to empower and develop our associates while strengthening our inclusive & diverse culture to win as 'One BD'.
The CCO organization operates across the entire US Region, partnering with the business units to provide and develop enabling capabilities in the areas of commercial contracting, sales enablement and operations, inside sales, customer care operations, business & pricing analytics, master data management, commercial enablement, operational excellence, and other functions. We aim to strengthen our foundational capabilities and deliver customer value through simplification and improvement initiatives, develop and prepare our associates, build an inclusive culture, drive digital transformation, and expand our strategic capabilities while remaining agile to the evolving needs of our customers.
Accountabilities in this role
Reporting to Manager, Chargeback Operations, this role will oversee all operational aspects of of Chargeback Operations and Sales Tracing processes for all US business segments. The role will manage the daily processing, stakeholder collaboration, and AR reconciliation related to Commercial Distributor Chargebacks and Sales Tracings, IDN & OEM Sales Tracings.The team will drive best in class, innovative, enterprise operational capabilities and establish policy, process, and governance to ensure effective end-to-end Chargeback and Sales Tracing activities to optimize US Region results and mitigate overall financial risk. This role will promote continuous improvement through automation, process standardization, data insights, and best practices to drive team efficiency and accuracy. This position will utilize multiple ERP systems, reporting tools and support all BD businesses. While supporting all BD businesses, this role will specialize in BDI chargeback and sales trace processing.This role will partner closely with Distributor partners, IDN's, Channel Management, Commercial Contracting teams, Analytics/Master Data, Accounts Receivable, Customer Care and IT to maximize operational activities.Team accountability spans over $7B annual Chargeback/Sales Tracing value, $2B in chargebacks processed consisting of 70M transactional lines.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage all Chargeback and Sales Tracing Operational activities, including timely and accurate chargeback processing and sales tracing requests, appropriate systematic controls, accounts receivable mgt. and distributor financial settlement activities.Partner with Contract Operations, Offer Development and Customer Care functions to support business process continuous improvement activities, identify insights on root cause analysis/error prevention solutions and execute operational enhancements.Collaborate with Distributor partners to build and strengthen the end to end chargeback process by focusing on procedures, prevention, accountability and timely settlements to reduce financial risk.Facilitate regular collaboration calls to discuss file processing status updates, key metric reporting, and action log follow-ups.Partner with Chargeback Resolution Team to accurately track, monitor, and communicate disputed lines for resolution.Collaborate with IT partners to ensure business requirements are met and technical functionality and performance appropriately supports activities.Support a Continuous Improvement (CI) plan to deliver process/procedure harmonization.Align and complete workload consistent with set metrics/KPIs and service level expectations associated with operational effectiveness, preventative analytics and customer satisfaction.Support organization through collaboration and initiatives to develop and drive best industry practices to increase pricing accuracy, eliminate errors, and streamline processes.Adhere to policy and procedures per contracts playbook, business guidelines and chargeback processes.Maintain updated desktop procedures to drive standard team processes that adhere to best practice efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's preferred; minimum 2 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.Minimum of 1 year experience in Commercial Contracting or Chargeback in the medical device or related healthcare industry field.Strong understanding of chargeback operations, pricing claims management, contract operations, policy and process development, contracting technologies and automation capabilities.Strong technical skills in applications such as MS Access, Excel, Qlik, Power BI and Vistex SAP ERP systems along with analytics and reporting solutions experienceDemonstrate a growth mindset to identify opportunities for continuous improvement to drive value and become a change agent.Effectively champions ideas and influence key stakeholders (internally and externally); builds and maintains strong cross-functional business partner relationships.Demonstrated capability to navigate and collaborate effectively across business and matrix and cross-functional leadership and organizational structures.Communicate effectively across functions in a customer centric method.Work across the organizational matrix to resolve challenges by involving the right individuals, fostering teamwork and effectively managing up, down and across functions.
