Position Description
This position will have responsibility for performing financial analyses for expansion opportunities that would complement Kinder Morgan's natural gas pipeline business segment. Additionally, the position will be responsible for budgeting, managing, and reporting on the financial progress of ongoing expansion projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide analytical, deal structure, and other support to the gas pipeline commercial organization with respect to potential transactions. This position is embedded in the commercial organization and will serve as the subject matter expert in financial modeling, ensure expansion projects meet the company’s return targets, and collaborate on investment decisions. In addition, this position has meaningful interaction with senior decision makers in the company, including at the President and C-suite level. The candidate should be comfortable explaining modeling inputs, relationships, and conclusions directly to these senior executives. Increasing levels of trust and exposure will be earned by consistent demonstration of expertise, ownership, and responsibility. The position requires that the incumbent: • Understand, create, and maintain financial models for potential expansions and acquisitions, including thorough research and understanding of the potential target • Facilitate the due-diligence process of potential transactions • Budget, monitor, and report on actual and forecasted spending related to ongoing expansion projects • Prepare presentation materials for senior management related to expansion projects and associated transactions • Develop an understanding of Kinder Morgan's gas pipeline segment and, through that lens, the types of transactions that are appropriate for each business unit • Develop an understanding of the various core transaction documents (purchase agreements, disclosure schedules, etc) related to reach transaction • Develop skills that allow the candidate to take on greater responsibility both within the group on a day to day basis and on individual deals, including: managing aspects of a potential transaction with limited or no supervision; structuring deals; generating original transaction ideas; and other duties as assigned *Job Level will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience

Additional information/details: • Will carry a cell phone and respond as needed during work and non-working hours • Limited domestic travel required (up to 5%), currently expected to be within North America • Work hours are generally normal but odd and extreme work hours required on occasion • Regular, predictable attendance is required • Undergraduate degree in business related field, preferably accounting or finance. Candidates with an undergraduate degree in engineering augmented with significant experience in accounting and finance will be considered as well. • A minimum of 1 year of relevant financial modeling experience Required Competencies, Skills, & Abilities: • The successful candidate will possess above average analytical and communication skills, demonstrate an interest in business and finance, and will have some experience with commercial acquisitions, particularly in the energy field. • Strong knowledge of financial theory and mathematics • Demonstrate a broad understanding of the energy business • General understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flow) • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the proven ability to present to senior management • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point • A general interest in investing • Strong self-motivation Preferred: • Graduate business degree (MBA, MS Finance or Accounting) • CFA or equivalent • Significant commercial experience including negotiating agreements • Investment Banking experience
