Agriculture Environmental Specialist 1 has an SER of $19.23 per hour.
Agriculture Environmental Specialist 2 has an SER of $20.58 per hour.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree with at least twenty-four semester hours in agriculture, animal science, biology, botany, chemistry, entomology, agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology, zoology, forestry, or any combination of credit in these courses to equal twenty-four semester hours.
SUBSTITUTION:
Experience in inspecting or enforcing for compliance with agricultural laws, rules or regulations will substitute for the specialized coursework on the basis of 12 semester hours for one year of experience.
Experience in planning or implementing soil, water or wetland conservation practices in agricultural or wetland environments will substitute for the specialized coursework on the basis of 12 semester hours for one year of experience.
NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To perform inspections and investigations relative to laws governing entomology, horticulture, agronomy, pesticide, structural pest control, seed, fertilizer, and quarantine programs.

Provides programmatic technical support to the statewide Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD). AES III also provides technical guidance to AES I and II. Meets with SWCD boards at their regular monthly board meetings to develop and maintain local conservation programs. Assists with SWCD capacity building and SWCD supervisor training duties. Incumbent will personally interact with 44 SWCD boards of supervisors and staff, various interagency personnel and cooperators, and may occasionally represent the LDAF on the State Conservation Technical Advisory Committee and other State or regional conservation management or advisory groups.

Works with USDA-NRCS, LDAF-OSWC, LDEQ and SWCD staff and private landowners to administer watershed specific programs such as the PL-566 Watershed Protection & Flood Prevention Program (PL-566) and the agricultural nonpoint source management program through the EPA Clean Water Act Section 319 and other watershed and water quality initiatives. Performs resource inventories on private land for conservation plan development and conservation program guidance, assists AES Manager and others with development of watershed-based work plans. Performs field inspections and compliance checks of agricultural solid waste composters and processors.

Reviews monthly District board meeting minutes and required attachments for supporting items and information to gauge levels of local SWCD interaction and conservation initiative progression. Develops interactive program and project specific spreadsheets and tracking tools for enhanced office efficiency related to various initiatives, and aids in OSWC staff activity planning and coordination.

Works with private landowners and agricultural processing facility managers to develop Agricultural Solid Waste Management Program best management practice plans.

Maintains and enhances established LDAF-OSWC/SWCD environmental conservation education and outreach programs and networks by promoting and conducting LA Project WET (Water education for Teachers) and other educational workshops and initiatives.

Provides staff assistance to the LA Association of Conservation Districts (LACD). Works with assigned LACD standing committees to illustrate and research conservation issues and resolutions and assists in development of the LACD Annual and mid-year meeting programs.
