Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) - a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York - seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Advocacy Coordinator to support the Peacemakers Program.
The Advocacy Coordinator will bring a passion for the mission of the Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
The Advocacy Coordinator will join our Peacemaker team that provides academic help and leadership development, as well as high school and college preparation. The ideal candidate will provide effective leadership and support all programmatic components in organizational structure development, resource management, and curriculum development.

Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years in an educational setting with at least 1 year of supervisory experience Experience working with Elementary students.

What You'll Do
Work one-on-one with students to understand the diversity of needs for academic resources Oversee the inclusion of science, math, ela and social studies into created curriculums Support full program in the creation of curriculum and lesson plans Manage tutoring schedule for elementary students Identify students who need tutoring support Gather and review academic data from all elementary students Create plans to address elementary students' academic challenges in the after school program Maintain statistical data for all education-related activities, such as student participation and tutor hours dedicated to educational activities Review educational history of students to evaluate academic performance and learning characteristics Prepare reports and updates as required and continuously evaluate program impact Review and use data to make informed decisions around education component program improvements Create sitewide initiatives to encourage academic development (i.e., science fairs, spelling, and math bees, etc.) Overseeing the execution of the afterschool program Support staff in classrooms as needed Identify, maintain, and distribute relevant educational information and materials to interns through orientations, annual events, weekly meetings, and other appropriate avenues Perform other duties as assigned
