Position: System Safety Engineer

　　Location: Sterling Heights, MI

　　Essential Responsibilities:

　　Apply knowledge and methodologies of safety engineering, including MIL-STD-882E, Software Safety Engineering as per JSSSEH, and Automotive ISO26262.Review product systems, support equipment, and facilities, establishing safety requirements for assigned systems.Independently analyze, recommend, and implement safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures.Develop hazard and causal factor requirements and designs to achieve critical system safety objectives.Evaluate systems, support equipment, facilities, networks, and information systems for safety compliance.Collaborate with design teams on MIL-STD-882E and/or ISO26262 standard hazard analyses.Apply engineering principles to military systems, analyzing, planning, designing, testing, or evaluating.Prepare engineering analyses, reports, proposals, and technical documentation for system safety and Airworthiness Certification IAW MIL-HDBK-516.Review software architecture, designs, requirements, and interface artifacts for safety in complex hardware/software systems.Analyze test plans and procedures for safety requirements verification and hazardous operations.Apply system safety engineering principles per MIL-STD-882 and ISO 26262, conducting various safety analyses.Familiarity with requirements development, system/software architecture, hardware/software design, testing, verification, and validation.Develop, review, update, and approve system safety artifacts and requirements.Perform hardware/software safety analysis.Communicate effectively with all leadership levels and customers, working independently.Develop C/C++ embedded software artifacts.Experience with model-based software development techniques.* Basic Qualifications:*

　　Bachelor's degree in computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or related fields with relevant experience.7 years of experience in Software Safety for embedded software using MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, or equivalent standards.Proven ability to integrate safety into system design to mitigate or eliminate hazards.2 years of experience in developing software in C/C++.* Bonus Qualifications:*

　　Advanced degree in relevant engineering/science fields.Familiarity with tools like Cameo, CPLM, PTC Windchill Quality Solutions, Agile software tools (JIRA, Confluence), MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.Experience in a scaled Agile organization.Knowledge in embedded software test development and systems integration engineering.Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Integration.System Safety Experience.Preference for candidates with experience in defense development.
