The University of Washington Office of Admissions has an outstanding opportunity for an Admissions Counselor . The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management. This position is a member of the admissions counseling team and has responsibility for ensuring accurate, consistent and friendly customer service is provided to prospective students, families, guidance counselors and other influencers who interact with the Office of Admissions. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Freshman Recruitment.
Additional responsibilities of this position include providing recruitment and outreach support to transfer and international applicants, managing a recruitment portfolio, budget planning and using CRM technology.
The Office of Admissions is seeking a talented individual who wishes to join our staff as an admissions counselor, to assist in the coordination of first-year outreach and recruitment for a university that receives more than 65,000 first-year applications annually.

Duties & Responsibilities
Counseling prospective first-year and transfer applicants about the boundless opportunities available at the UW and about the admissions process. Such counseling takes place through in-person appointments, information sessions, fairs, phone calls, emails, webinars, texts and social apps like ZeeMee 35%
Representing the UW at high schools, community colleges, conferences, community events and on-campus information sessions and events 25%
Traveling to in-state and at least one out-of-state recruitment territory 15%
Assisting in outreach and recruitment programs in-person and virtually 10%
Reviewing undergraduate applications through a holistic process 10%
Other duties as assigned 5%
Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s degree• At least two years admissions counseling and/or outreach experience or equivalent.• Must be able to demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.• Must be flexible and have the drive to work in a fast-paced office.• Strong interpersonal and writing skills are essential, as are strong public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.• Must be comfortable with technology and have basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software tools.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• Experience in both first-year and transfer admissions recruitment and outreach in the U.S. and an understanding of the distinctive qualities of the UW.• Experience working with diverse populations as well as have an understanding of cultural differences and their effect on college planning.• Demonstrated enthusiasm for the UW, strong work ethic, exercises sound judgment, professionalism and maturity.• Former student ambassador, tour guide, on-campus Resident Adviser, Peer Adviser, Orientation Leader or similar student involvement. Graduate of the UW or a similar research university.
Working Environment:
• Must be flexible and have the drive to work in a fast-paced office.• During recruitment season, this position requires the ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours; travel to remote locations; and load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment.• During non-peak periods, this position can work hybrid: three days on campus and two days remote.• Must have a valid driver’s license and be Real ID compliant.
