Income Tax Accounting
The Income Tax Section is responsible for processing all income (individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary) and severance tax returns, PTC rebates and issuing the associated refunds and bills. The Section applies the necessary statutes pertaining to the tax programs that our group administers. The Section also resolves disputes that might result from a reduced refund, tax delinquency or non-filer assessment. This can include adjustments of tax, penalty, penalty-interest, and/or interest. The Section verifies incoming returns and applications for accuracy and completeness. Credits and subtractions are reviewed as well.
This position exists to prepare taxpayer correspondence by scanning documents, attaching and creating work items on taxpayer accounts. Research and mail warrants addressed to foreign addresses in GenTax. Prepare power of attorney documents by scanning documents, attaching and entering the necessary data in GenTax on the taxpayer's account. Update addresses as needed; add indicators and place accounts "In Protest" to stop billing processes; maintain and assign the inventory of accounts to be worked; sort and route incoming and outgoing mail; provide public assistance. The position also acts as a lead worker for any new temporary administrative assistant employees. Provide staff support for team and management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Three (3) years of General Clerical work experience.
General Clerical work experience is typically performed by office clerks and/or administrative assistants this includes, but is not limited to tasks such as:
Experience providing exceptional customer service; interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community.
Data Entry including: entering information into a program or database (appointments, contact information, customer records)
Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing equipment and software used in offices i.e. Google Apps and Microsoft Office programs.
Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies
Typing professional emails, letters, reports, briefings, forms, memoranda, etc.
Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness. Gathering specified information and compiling routine reports

Education and Experience:
One (1) year of General Clerical work experience, as described above.
Associate's degree in Business Administration or similar fields.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
Experience in keeping inventory and ordering of office supplies.
Experience in scheduling meetings, reserving conference rooms, etc.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities
Experience in creating and maintaining desk procedures.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; multi-task; work with and maintain confidential information.
Demonstrated excellence in customer service
Excellent interpersonal skills; to include communicating with others via verbal conversation and written communication.
Familiarity with GenTax and/or other tax software

Conditions of Employment with the Colorado Department of Revenue :
As a condition of employment with the Colorado Department of Revenue, a requirement exists that all personnel timely file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and timely pay tax obligations.
