The Opportunity
This opportunity involves offering administrative and events support within a multi-disciplinary department with a substantial teaching and research program. Overall, the focus is on providing crucial support to facilitate the smooth operation of the department's teaching and research initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Utilize PCard and e-Shop for ordering departmental supplies, faculty teaching/research supplies, and equipment.Apply accounting information in accordance with University policy for ordered items.Assist in booking travel for faculty, staff, and students.Process participant and travel advances, reconcile, and clear advances after payment.Serve as the department's telecommunications coordinator.Fulfill the role of the department safety coordinator.Assist staff in managing the department's social media presence and website.Provide assistance to faculty, grad students, and staff with AV technology and web conferencing.Take responsibility for the computer equipment inventory and coordinate maintenance.Serve as the department receptionist by answering the main phone line, directing calls, managing general email, welcoming visitors, processing daily mail, and coordinating department key and electronic access.Assist faculty and staff during various departmental events, including retreats, orientations, holiday parties, annual mentoring events, Senior Dinner, graduation, and other events as needed.
What We Need

Formal training beyond a High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience in an administrative and business setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools.Ability to troubleshoot basic tech issues with computers, AV equipment, and web conferencing software (Zoom).Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.Ability to work independently.Proven ability to prioritize a varied workload.Ability to work effectively as a member of the administrative team.Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy to a wide range of internal and external constituents.Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a busy office setting.

Associates Degree and 4+ years of experience.Experience with basic web editing (e.g., Drupal).Basic understanding of Cornell's procedures and policies related to purchasing and accounting.Experience with Cornell's financial and purchasing systems (e-Shop, PCard, travel system).Experience in event planning and management.
