Admin Asst/Therapy Tech - PRN

GENERAL SUMMARY: To provide administrative support to the inpatient rehab unit. The primary role for this position is assisting in obtaining prior authorizations for rehab patients. The other duties described below will be secondary to supporting the prior authorization process. These secondary duties are expected to be completed during the work day that is not devoted to support of the prior authorization process.
Schedule: Mon - Friday 10a-2pm (20 hours week)
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Support Clinical Rehab Specialist (CRS) staff in obtaining prior authorizations and/or retro authorizations, insuring necessary clinical documentation is placed in medical charts, maintaining logs to track prior and retro authorizations, assisting with departmental tours and other duties as assigned.
· Support Patient Care Coordinator in administrative tasks such as filing, record management, Discharge Phone Calls, and other duties as assigned i.e. fax/scan orders to DME providers, assist with gathering/submitting insurance update information.
· Supports Therapy staff and processes including charge entry and reconciliation, distribution of patient schedules, clean hydrocollator bi weekly, record hydrocollator and freezer temperatures, daily cleaning of equipment in gym and assist therapists as needed with non-patient contact activities i.e. wheelchair follow.
· Support IRF-PAI coordinator in medical record audits for copying, filing etc.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· How to use a copier, fax, computer for scanning, uploading documents.
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Good interpersonal skills with strong team collaboration
· Attention to detail
· Able to manage several details and/or tasks at once
· Good follow through and completion of tasks
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
· Some knowledge of medical terminology
· Ability to keep up with several ongoing tasks at once.
· Knowledge of medical processes, diagnoses, procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· Interest in medical profession.
· LPN, medical assistant or medical background preferred but not required
Experience with Pre-Certs and Front Office MedicalLICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· None
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
· LPN or medical assistant is a plus but not required
