The Activity Assistant assists the Activity Director in providing group and individual activities for residents of Jasper County Nursing Home. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be sure area to be used for activity is free.Set up as needed for the type of activity plannedAssist with transport of residents to and from the activity areaFollow the instructions for the activity as directedPerform related duties as assigned by Activity DirectorMaintain compliance with all company policies and proceduresNotify nursing of resident behaviors which may indicate medical problemsObserve individual resident participation and responses during the activityChaperone scheduled activities away from the facility groundsHelp with putting up, taking down and storing decorationsInteract appropriately and effectively in one on one activities according to resident's strengths and limitationsParticipate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide special activities such as dress-up day and special observancesKeep activity closets organizedMaintain composure in stressful situationsBe aware of individual cognitive, emotional and psychosocial impairmentsComplete documentation of tasksHelp prepare calendars, newsletter, invitations, and other notices as neededTake pictures, have published in Jasper County News or placed in facility news letterBe knowledgeable of dietary needs, and other precautionsEvent planning experience is a plus
