About Activity Assistant

  Provides activities & interventions appropriate to meet the needs of theparticipating residents. Is knowledgeable of & understands the needs ofthe resident population. Description: Is knowledgeable ofPrograms/Activity department practices, procedures, safety regulations,& guidelines & ensures that Programs/Activity schedules are followed asoutlined by supervisor. Performs activities, follows schedules, &maintains records as directed, in accordance with establishedprocedures. Inspects program/activity areas on a daily basis to ensurethat the grounds, buildings & equipment are maintained in accordancewith established policies & procedure & all hazardous areas are properlyidentified. Cleans program areas as directed, disposes of refuse/trashin accordance with established procedures, & reports to manager wheneversupplies need to be ordered. Ensures that work/assignment areas areclean & equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored beforeleaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc. Assures that theprogram & activity area & equipment is properly maintained for comfort,convenience & safety, operating to manufacturer?s specifications.Reports & assists in identifying & correcting problem areas & equipment,&/or improvement of services, when applicable. Develops & maintains agood working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, & otherdepartments within Heritage, to assure that programs can be properlyplanned & maintained to meet the needs of Heritage. Participates inprograms designed for in-service education, on the job training &orientation classes. Adheres to Universal Precautions & InfectionControl Policies, including following established h& washing procedures,use of appropriate PPE & supplies when handling infectious materials.Follows established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE &disposal of infectious wastes. Has a competent understanding of allchemicals & has been trained to use them in accordance with standards.Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oilspills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all establishedsafety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Wear &/or use safetyequipment & supplies & uses proper mechanics while performing duties(e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc. when moving or lifting heavyobjects). Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e.,grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that allestablished safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refersto materials safety when necessary. Reports all accidents/incidents toyour supervisor, no matter how minor they may be. (NOTE: Suchoccurrences must be reported on the shift on which they occur). Adheresto department working hours & completes assignments within guidelinesset by supervisor & performs other related duties & activities as may bebecome necessary or as directed by supervisor. Demonstrates versatility&/or willingness to cover emergencies, various functions & shifts. I.e.,driving, working weekends & holiday staffing. May be required to workbeyond normal working hours & on weekends & holidays, when necessary, &in other positions, temporarily, when necessary Maintains theconfidentiality of all resident care information, including protectedhealth information & reports known or suspected incidents ofunauthorized disclosure of said information. Reports known or suspectedincidents of fraud to the Executive Director Drive Heritage vehicle forerrands, transporting, or other uses as directed. Qualifications: HighSchool Degree & 1 to 3 years? experience in a working with the elderlypreferred. Must be able to speak the English language in anunderstandable manner. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Musthave a valid MA Driver?s License Schedule Details: 40 hours per week,Rot Days, 10a-6:30p, E/O Weekend & E/O Holiday
