This is a Full Time, non-exempt, hourly position reporting to the Controller. We want employees to feel like they are part of a family, the UGC family.WHAT UGC CAN OFFER YOU IN THIS POSITION Hourly Range: $21.76-$33.49BENEFITS:Medical, Dental (with orthodontia), VisionLife / AD&D, STD/LTD Insurance-Employer Paid401K with generous company matchEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Paid Time off 10 hours per month, including Community Volunteer time, and Holiday PayTuition ReimbursementEmployee DiscountsWellness ProgramRecognition ProgramsInclusive, team oriented and family friendly cultureJOB SUMMARYThis Full-Time hourly position located at our corporate office in downtown Vancouver, WA is responsible for computing, classifying, and recording financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the organization are accurate.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operates computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.Assists with monthly financial closing processes, including but not limited to, mastery in preparing journal entries with proper support, understanding fundamentals of accounting; including debits and credits for revenue and expenses related to the Grain Accounting Department.Processes unload weights, grades, advance payments, final purchase settlement payments and invoices.Calculates freight variations for settlement purposes.Generates rail and barge freight payments as needed.Reviews grain contracts with customers, identifying key terms needed for effective settlement processing.Confirms quantity over-and-underfills with customer and submits information to Merchandising.Conforms with and abides by industry regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.Back up to other grain accountants as needed.Assists with annual audit as needed.Assists Controller and Assistant Controller as needed.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Grain Accounting or Accounting is preferred but equivalent work experience and education will be considered.Minimum two (2) years of experience in accounting functions, primarily account reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Must be computer literate with proven ability in the use of spreadsheets, database, and word processing software, accounting software applications within a Windows-based operating environment primarily data entry, query, and reporting.Demonstrated knowledge and ability to negotiate, analyze and assess risk, and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.Knowledge of grain terminology preferred.Experience working in Agriculture industry is strongly desired.Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and can proficiently prioritize daily job duties and deadlines independently.A good listener and strong written and verbal communication. Providing clear, concise, and timely communication with all internal and external customers.Demonstrates high attention to detail and ability to multi-task.Must be able to make decisions and work independently; be detail-oriented with excellent communications
