About Accounting Intern

  Description

  JOB SUMMARY

  Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Intern will support the accounting department with a variety of administrative and entry level accounting tasks This a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and to apply the concepts you have learned in the classroom.

  This internship is available immediately and may last up to 6 months. The work schedule is flexible and will be agreed upon based on the intern’s availability and business needs. This is not a remote position and requires work in the office.

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  High school diploma or GED.

  Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.

  Strong computer skills utilizing Word and Excel.

  Must be detailed and organized with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  Ability to work independently and within a team.

  Good verbal and written communication skills.

  Must be able to successfully complete the company’s pre-employment process including a criminal background check, drug test and post-offer basic physical.

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

  Recent graduates who have completed their degree in one of the above fields are also eligible to apply.

  Experience using Sage 100 software.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Perform general accounting and administrative duties including research, filing, data entry, and record keeping.

  Assist with accounting entries.

  Support month-end closing processes.

  Assist with reconciliations and invoice handling.

  Contribute to ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

  The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  The work requires prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and routine walking, bending, and carrying items weighing less than 15 pounds.
