Description We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in the non-profit sector. This role is based in Sacramento, California and offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing vendor invoices, overseeing financial transactions, and handling accounts payable and receivable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records by utilizing accounting software systems such as QuickBooks Online.

• Process vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner.

• Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations including billing and collections.

• Oversee financial transactions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

• Assist with account reconciliations and budget creation.

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documents.

• Manage communication with various stakeholders including donors.

• Assist in closing procedures, Annual Audit, and Annual Report.

• Support the preparation of financial reports to ensure accurate financial information across departments.

• Prepare checks for signature, manage credit card expenses, and set up monthly ACH payments.

• Perform other assigned duties as required. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites

• Familiarity with Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Understanding of Billing Functions

• Experience in managing Cash Activity

• Competency in Quickbooks Online

• Ability to work in a non-profit environment

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is preferred

• Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial.
