  The Position

  Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

  PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2024.   This recruitment is for an Accounting Assistant 1. The eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in various locations and agencies across the State of Nevada. Accounting Assistant 1s perform clerical accounting duties in support of a work unit or program in an assigned agency. Assignments are limited in variety, recurring and generally follow established routines.   To Qualify:

  In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

  Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

  Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of clerical experience, six months of which included duties such as accounts payable and/or accounts receivable and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheet to record, track and report data; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education supplemented by successful completion of a one-semester college course in bookkeeping and six months of clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Special Requirements

  Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required.
