Description
Job Summary:
Will assist the controller and the corporate HR team on maintaining and updating financial records, processing financial transactions, preparing analysis, preparing reports and reconciling general ledger accounts. Responsible for all Human Resource activities for the Company. Provides advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation. Develops and conducts training. May assist in screening applicants for employment and screening employees for corrective action. Maintains employee master file. Active role in Benefits, Employment Practices, Environmental/Safety/Health, Unemployment, and Workers' Compensation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting:
Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
Complete billing on a daily basis and distribute to customers
Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable and general journal entries
Perform analysis and reconcile general ledger accounts in a timely manner
Aid and support to company personnel
Track and research accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
Develop and recommend operating policy and procedural improvements
Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
Human Resources:
Actively participate in Safety Initiatives: follows and promote safe behavior and continues improvement.
Responsible for all human resource activities to include employment, compensation, benefits and training and development
Interview job applicants; review application/resume; evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications
Develop and maintain relationship with employment agencies, universities and other recruitment source
Prepare and maintain job documentation and job evaluation systems
Design and conduct new employee orientations
Be the site point of contact between corporate and the employees in regards to insurance questions
Oversee/process labor hours for payroll and benefits
Recommend, develop, and schedule training and development courses
Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation
Recommend, develop, and maintain human resource databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems as appropriate
Develop and recommend operating policy and procedural improvements
Perform specific research / investigation into operational issues, as requested
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting disciplines and a strong understanding of US GAAP
Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines. Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a bachelor's degree and/or three to five years of human resource experience
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers
Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
Data entry and word processing skills
Well organized
Excellent phone etiquette.
Credentials and Experience:
Associates Degree or higher
Two to five years related experience
Human Resource Management Certification
Special Requirements:
Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by Hiring Manager.
Ability to use the following equipment: Computer, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
Prolonged periods of time standing and walking on feet
