Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our organization. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of financial transactions, with a focus on accounts payable functions. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization, supporting our mission to make a positive impact on the community.
• Review all purchase requisitions and backup for proper entry in the general ledger. Provide to Controller or Chief Financial Officer for approval prior to processing.
• Enter invoices into the accounts payable ledger in a timely manner to ensure prompt payments and accurate aging information.
• Maintain vendor database ensuring the accuracy of required information including federal tax ID, 1099 status, tax-exempt and insurance certificates and consultants’ contracts.
• Prepare weekly cash requirements report for check run, including ensuring payments are from approved invoices, with appropriate account and cost center coding, payments according to agency policy, prioritize payments based on due dates and limiting late fees and penalties for late payments.
• Review of aging due dates for timely payment of invoices.
• Run monthly cash disbursements report and reconcile to the monthly cash sheet.
• Assist with document preparations for the internal auditor/staff accountant.

Requirements
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting function
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft word and excel.
• Associates degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
