Required: * 4-year college degree in accounting or other applicablebusiness field AND 2 years of experience in a responsibleaccounting/auditing capacity OR * 2-year degree in accounting and 3-5years of progressively responsible accounting * Read and interpretcomplex documents * Write detailed correspondence, reports, policies,procedures, and other documents * Communicate effectively, bothverbally and in writing * Make public presentations * Modern businessadmin * Experience within the Microsoft business systems such as Word,Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook * Possess, or obtain within 90 days, avalid Oregon Driver\'s License, and have a good driving recordPreferred: * Accounting experience working in government * Licensingas a Certified Public Accountant Summary: The Accountant performscomplex, professional accounting and technical support duties supportingthe District\'s strategic and financial goals. Duties include accountspayable and receivable, general ledger, financial statements, payroll,and asset management. The position has regular contact with local,state, and federal agencies and other organizations necessary to thefinancial operation and stability of the organization. Must collaborateclosely with managers and employees as it relates to accounting,payroll, and all fiscal other functions. Duties Include: * Complieswith the financial policies, procedures and internal controls conform toGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles and Government AccountingStandards Board requirements * Complies with the financial requirementsand regulations required by the Oregon Department of Transportation andFederal Transit Administration * Manages accounts payable andreceivable using accounting software and other programs * Performs thegeneral accounting * Assists with the preparation of financial reportsand the annual financial statements * Monitors internal controls forhandling fare revenues and other funds * Processes payroll * Ensurethat all documents under the care and custody are properly filed andaccounted * Assists in the development and implementation of policiesand procedures for all purchases and procurements * Assist in theinterpretation, development, and review of union contract language *Assist in preparing a variety of reports and correspondence for theFinance/Grant Manager * Encourage management and employees at alllevels and the organization toward continual financial improvements *Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of internalcontrols * Use accounting software currently Peach Tree Sage 30, Excel,Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other software * Manage, oversee, processand function as backup for processing all the following transactions:payroll, accounts payable, revenue and expense, fixed assets, cash, bankreconciliations, and allocations * Ensure best practices and optimaluse of technology * Performs miscellaneous projects
