Interstate Companies is looking for an Accountant to join our General Ledger team at our corporate headquarters in Bloomington Minnesota. In this highly visible role, your experience and performance will impact all aspects of the business. You'll work collaboratively with all departments in Finance and Accounting to improve our reporting and compliance across two operating units in 15 locations operating in 9 states. Your contributions are critical to this role adding value back to our company through financial reporting, process improvement, driving productivity and education across all levels. As a member of the General Ledger team this role provides accounting support to all operational levels of the company and corporate personnel relating to our Assembly Systems and Bearing Systems business lines. This role is responsible for ensuring that the accounting policies are implemented and adhered to as required under US GAAP and advises management accordingly. This role will partner with and advise operational leaders, corporate peers, and other professionals. The role offers an interesting variety of projects as well as visibility and opportunity for professional growth and development. Interstate Companies is an industrial conglomerate focused on distribution, industrial product sales and manufacturing. It specializes in sales and support of heavy-duty trucks, final-stage vehicle manufacturing, sales and support of diesel engines, industrial bearing and power transmission products, industrial transmissions, power generation, transport refrigeration and other products. Interstate also provides industrial labor and contract assembly services. Preferred Skills: Experience in managerial accounting from a manufacturing, assembly, or related environment Responsibilities and Duties: Performs general ledger accounting including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliation Participates in the month, quarter, and year end close process Reconciles balance sheet accounts, research and resolves reconciling items Assists with financial, vendor, and internal audits Reviews revenue and expenses and prepares financial statements Provides proactive analysis and support to the finance and operation teams Performs a critical role in the budgeting process Works with operations management to identify process and/or system improvement opportunities, recommends solutions, and assists with implementation Ensure processes and procedures follow company policies and adhere to US GAAP Special projects as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related major required.
