Job Description:

The Boston Globe Advertising team is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial, self motivated Account Executive to drive business across the Higher Education vertical. In this role, you will report to the Head of Sales, representing Boston Globe’s full advertising, event and branded product suite to agencies and brands within Higher Education. Collaborating closely with teams across The Globe organization to help bring brand messaging to life across our platforms. 

Responsibilities:

Lead the Higher Education book of business. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of the trends and advertising demands affecting the category

Meeting with clients, to develop pipeline - as well as establishing and maintaining a deep rolodex of relationships with clients and agencies in the New England region and beyond

Maintain a robust sales pipeline that meets and fulfills revenue targets 

Establish a deep understanding of Boston Globe’s products, ideate strategic solutions based on client briefs, and build proposal responses

Build prospect lists and go to market strategies for Boston Globe special sections and initiatives

Qualifications: 

3-5 Years Experience in a Media Sales Role

Strong preference for a candidate with a Higher Education rolodex

Demonstrated experience growing pipeline and exceeding quotas

Deep understanding of both the print and digital media landscape (trends and technical)

Confident closer. Ability to address client problems head on and provide creative solutions

Curious and passionate about news media and journalism

Competitive and driven to succeed

A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment

The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.

This position is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Boston Newspaper Guild.
