Job Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center invites applications for an academic cancer cytogeneticist at the Assistant or Associate Attending level. The position is based in the Clinical C ytogenetics L aboratory which operates under the direct leadership of Dr Yanming Zhang and is one of three clinical laboratories that form the Molecular Diagnostics Service, under the overall leadership of Dr M arc Ladanyi as Service Chief. The lab provides high quality clinical diagnostic tests used in the evaluation of hematologic neoplasm s and various solid tumors by applying conventional chromosome analysis, numerous gene specific FISH assays, and cyto genomic microarray studies , applications with which the successful candidate sh ould already be familiar . Implementation and validation of novel state-of the-art techniques such as optical genome mapping (OGM) will be an important ongoing aspect of this position. Ample opportunities for collaboration on research projects within the lab, service , and department are available.
Applicants should have a strong clinical and/or research track record in cancer cytogenetics and genomics with solid skills, knowledge and expertise in karyotyping, FISH analysis and genomic microarray testing . Candidates should be eligible for a Certificate of Qualification in clinical cytogenetics from the New York State Department of Health. An M.D. or Ph.D. is required . Board Certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and/or Board Certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology (ABP/ABMG) are preferred. Candidates with hands on experience in data analysis and interpretation in OGM test ing are strongly encouraged. Candidate should demonstrate high motivation and commitment to excellent patient care , research collaborations, and academic engagement .
