Under the direction of the 6-12 Principal, the essential functions of the Assistant Principal may include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in organizing, coordinating, and administering assigned programs and activities related to student discipline, attendance, and instruction in grades 6-12;Assisting with administrative duties involving student conduct, curriculum development and school plant operations as assigned;Assisting with supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel and assigning duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectivesAssisting with recruiting, interviewing, and selecting new faculty and staff..Responsibilities of Assistant Principal
Promotes a positive, caring climate for learning.
Collaborate with the Principal in the overall management and administration of the middle school and high school, including student discipline, staff supervision and evaluation, and implementation of school policies.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure the best possible educational experience for students. This includes supporting staff in implementation of cooperative learning through Kagan structures, curriculum, instruction, and grading practices.
Collaborates with principal and school counselor to plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules
Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. workshops, inter and intra district committees, seminars, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their administrative responsibilities.
Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, field trips, activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions in order to enhance student success.
Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
