Job Description Summary
The 4-H Teens as Teachers Program Coordinator works with Extension staff to coordinate and support Teens Teachers Program. This position recruits, hires, trains, supports, and evaluates teens and coordinates daily lesson planning, review of inventory/equipment and conducts site(s) visits. The Program Coordinator collects data on clients served, maintains relationships with the schools’ staff, students, parents, and community members, evaluates knowledge gained and behavioral changes through approved evaluation tools, and works in coordination with the 4-H agent(s) to ensure delivery of quality 4-H programs to afterschool participants. This is a salaried position and does not include overtime pay.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Manages, implements, and sustains the 4-H Teens as Teachers work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.
Assists 4-H County Agent(s) in ensuring the program delivery network meets the needs of the Dallas County youth and volunteers, reflects the objectives and intent of the 4-H Teens as Teachers program or project, and meets applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Coordinates activities of the 4-H Teens as Teachers program with interrelated activities of other 4-H and Extension programs, departments, or Extension staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications of the 4-H program.
Assists 4-H Agent(s) in evaluating the 4-H program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.
Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional, educational, and training materials, newsletters, or brochures, as appropriate to the 4-H program.
Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains 4-H program records and statistical information; evaluates knowledge gained and behavioral changes through approved evaluation tools.
Prepares grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the 4-H program.
Recruits, hires, trains, supports, and evaluates teens and coordinates daily lesson planning, review of inventory/equipment and conducts site(s) visits.
Completes periodic reports, financial statements, and records on 4-H program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Management, Behavioral Science, or in a job-related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience teaching in a public or private school.
Customer service experience.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in the use of standard software applications.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the public.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Previous Knowledge or experience with the 4-H program.
Bilingual preferred, but not essential.
Other Requirements and Factors:
Off-business hours, weekends might be required.
Reliable transportation with the ability to travel to various work and training site locations is necessary.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have good driving record.
Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
