GUG II Middle School Learning Specialist
Mission Statement: The Growing Up Green Charter School (GUGCS) supports children to be conscious, contributing members of their community through a rigorous, anti-racist, anti-bias, curriculum and an engaging green culture. Content Responsibilities:
Work in an ICT classroom as a co-teacher while collaborating in lesson plannign, delievery, scaffolding, and differentiation in math or literacyUtilize a variety of specialized curricula to develop a long-term scope & sequence in order to ensure students are progressing towards their individualized learning goalsCollaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers in order to align and differentiate instructionParticipate in weekly RTI committee meetings to develop academic and social/emotional strategies and interventions for struggling studentsSupport classroom teachers in implementing intervention plans, as well as monitoring and documenting student progressPrepare documentation of student's current academic performance in preparation for IEP meetingsAdminister regular assessment of student IEP goals and complete IEP goal progress reports on a quarterly basisDevelop individualized SMART goals for student IEPsDevelop weekly lesson plans to help drive instruction in a clear manner
School-Wide Responsibilities:
Utilize the Responsive Classroom approach to discipline and community-buildingEstablish and maintain ongoing positive relationships and communication with familiesActively participate in the school community through weekly staff meetings, PD opportunities, department meetings, and school eventsWork with an instructional coach on improving teaching practices throughout the yearRespond productively to ongoing, year-round professional feedbackDemonstrate commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students, including those at-riskPerform other school-wide responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Strong commitment to Growing Up Green Charter School's mission and green themeStrong commitment to a multi-sensory teaching approachDemonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachersDemonstrates initiative and flexibility in scheduling changes to meet all student needsExperience in environmental education a plusExperience with technology integrationExcellent organizational skillsStarting salary $61,070 (salaray scale commensurate with experience)
Education
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferredTeaching Certificate in Students with Disability requiredAt least two-year experience teaching students in Middle school grades
Required Certificates & Licenses: NY Teaching certificate, Certificate in Students with Disability, NYC DOE/Fingerprinting & Background Clearance
