Kent State University's School of Communication Studies continually seeks qualified candidates for part-time, temporary teaching positions. Adjunct faculty members, who teach at least one course a semester, receive a tuition fee waiver for up to a maximum of four credit hours to be taken during or immediately following the semester in which the part-time faculty member is employed.

Minimum Qualifications:
All part-time instructors must have an earned Master's degree in hand. This degree must include significant training and coursework in communication. Areas for which instructors are often needed include core departmental courses like: introduction to human communication, gender and communication, public speaking, intercultural communication, criticism of public discourse, communication theory, and communication research methods. At times, the school needs instructors with more in-depth training in one of these specific areas to teach introductory courses. If you have more expertise in one of these areas, please note it in your cover letter along with any related coursework from your degrees that support the concentration focus.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
