Hiring Range: $20.69 - $22.51 hourly
Work Schedule: Generally, 40 or more hours per week typically 7:00am-3:30 pm Monday-Friday, with some evenings, weekends, and holidayevents as needed. On-call scheduling will occur as required.
NATURE OF WORKThe Wastewater Treatment Operator D works with the Wastewater Treatmentfacility team as well as other Public Works Divisions. This is the entry-levelclass in the Wastewater Treatment Operator series. Individuals in thisposition perform skilled and semi-skilled task assignments necessary to theoperation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities to help ensurecompliance with all local, state, and federal standards in conformity withthe discharge permit. Operates and maintains equipment necessary to achievethese service objectives.

SUPERVISION RECEIVEDIndividuals work under the direct supervision of the Wastewater TreatmentFacility (WWTF) Superintendent to carry out assigned duties,functions, roles, and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.

Operates pumps, motors, and chemical feed equipment, control and SCADAsystems.Collects data for daily operational records.Collects samples and performs laboratory tests. Delivers samples to outsidelabs as necessary.Performs general equipment inspection and maintenance and recommends repairsto WWTF Superintendent.Performs general facility maintenance and housekeeping. Performs generalgrounds maintenance.Assists with the coordination of outside contractors engaged in performingmaintenance and repair work for the city.Serves on-call on a rotating basis.Responds to emergencies or after-hours callouts as needed.Inputs daily work data into a computer and maintains records of workperformed.Effectively communicates with the public and maintains a courteous and helpfulattitude.Perform and foster an environment of safe work practices and report safetyissues promptly to direct supervisor.OTHER DUTIESDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following:The Wastewater Treatment Operator D position participates in the Shared FleetVehicle Program, which requires an annual motor vehicle record check.Performs other related duties as may be assigned or required.Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonablydirected by the Town.Assists other town departments/divisions, serves on employee committeesand project teams, and performs other work as necessary.Education, Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.Must be 21 years of age by the first date of employment.One (1) year of experience working at a Wastewater Treatment Facility ispreferred.One (1) year of related experience in water and/or sewer preferred,which should include basic hands-on mechanical experience with functionalknowledge of pumps, valves, fire hydrants, and meters.Equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence thatthe applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities toperform the essential functions of the job.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATESMust have a current Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain oneupon hire that meets the Town of Windsor's standards; ability to maintainthroughout employment.Class D Wastewater Operators certification or ability to obtain within twoyears.FEMA Certifications 100, 200, and 700 within one (1) year of employment.CPR/1st AidCertification or ability to attain within three (3) months ofemployment.
