As an Editor of the Lehigh University Press (LUP), performs work to ensure the publication of high-quality academic books at a steady annual rate. Oversee the publication process, which encompasses the following stages: submission of proposals, peer review and revision of manuscripts, production of books, and post-production publicity and follow-up. In addition to providing editorial assistance on manuscripts, the editor oversees marketing and business development for the press, leading author recruitment campaigns, creating publicity materials, managing the website and social media accounts, and performing other related activities. Oversee administrative and organizational duties for the LUP office. This entails a variety of responsibilities such as keeping records of all manuscripts throughout the publication process, scheduling and preparing for board meetings, and maintaining the smooth operation of the press on a daily basis. This position is a Grade: 8-37.5 with an approximate salary range of $42,650-$51,190 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

Oversee Press Operations*Maintain office files, including a file for each author*Track manuscripts from the proposal phase to publicationEnsure that the status of each manuscript is current*Arrange two to three editorial board meetings per year: Prepare agenda and meeting materials, take minutes*Submit contract requests and other paperwork required by LUP's co-publisher*Monitor account expenditures - process payment forms through accounts payable*Make travel arrangements and administer travel reimbursement forms*Mail manuscripts (as necessary) and books*Track published book reviews and author events*Conduct research to solicit new book projects and communicate with potential authors*Create flyers, newsletters and email campaigns publicizing LUP books*Maintain and provide regular updates on the LUP website and social media accounts*Perform other related marketing and publicity duties
Provide Editorial Assistance*Correspond with authors from submission of proposals to publication*Identify external readers. Maintain correspondence with external readers throughout the peer review process, from sending out manuscripts to processing honorariums*Review revised manuscripts to ensure that authors have followed the revision plan approved by the editorial board*Assess revised manuscripts to ensure their quality, clarity and adherence to style guidelines*Perform copy editing, rewriting and other format changes when necessary*Check facts if necessary*Check accuracy of footnotes and bibliography and format of manuscript*Apply current edition of Chicago Style manual to manuscripts*Ensure that proper permissions have been obtained*Secure endorsements*Collect and track all necessary information for back and front book covers

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Humanities or Social Sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's Degree preferred
Three to five years of related work experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
