Job Description
COMPENSATION RANGE
$110,000 - $135,000/annually

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for project development / engineering activities, as well as overall Technical & Performance.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ownership of site improvement projects and completion of project management planning/tracking/updates
Support new site establishment tasks and internal coordination following Business Development wins
Benchmarking of current site energy, chemical and operating costs
Analysis of opportunities for technical and operational improvements, including energy/chemical efficiency
Support new business system implementations and internal system development efforts
Capital planning development and support for integration of capital improvement upgrades at the site level
Costing modeling of operations and maintenance (O&M) components
Preparation of Technical Sections of Client proposals
Support Business Development with Client presentations
Interface with other internal technical experts to develop comprehensive solutions for regional sites
Develop and manage external technical relationships with consultants, contractors, suppliers, etc.
Facilitating and documenting risk assessment discussions and criticality reviews
Perform facility audits for contract and policy compliance as well as identifying cost saving measures
Develop corrective action plans for targeted action items and provide consistent follow-up and support
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job involves working primarily indoors with regular outdoor site visits / equipment inspections under a variety of weather conditions. Working safely in both indoor and outdoor situations, to observe and report any potential direct field planning and work activities will be expected. This job may include up to 75% of time traveling to field operations and meeting locations depending on project activities.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical disciplines
5 - 7 years’ experience in the technical development and management of a range of projects
Experience working in the utility management sector preferred
Direct experience within the water/wastewater industry an asset
Additional experience with Asset Management practices and/or plant process engineering would be highly beneficial to the role
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and implement projects and programs to an on-schedule completion and within budget.
Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize a range of technical work and progress projects.
Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
Motivated and dynamic person with ability to work independently and part of a team.
Practical operational experience is needed, including ability to integrate with site O&M teams.
Desirable to have knowledge of the methods, principles and practices in management of water/wastewater treatment and water distribution / wastewater collection systems.
Strong computer skills and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to communicate / streamline processes and increase efficiency.
Proficient with learning new business systems and providing knowledge transfer to others.
Google Suite applications experience, as well as capabilities in Microsoft Excel and Access.
Skills in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a major asset.
Reviewing and reporting on technology or equipment purchases under consideration at existing or new projects.
Ability to work safety in a range of site environments and around online equipment.
Understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and process control management would be very advantageous.
Exposure to risk assessment / management techniques would be beneficial.
Resourceful and proactive person who enjoys working on a small technical team, traveling to operational facilities to see projects through successfully, as well as take on new challenges.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required
Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Water / Wastewater Certifications an asset
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) training is advantageous
Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record
