Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Rehab Services, the Technician Rehab Services is responsible for assisting the Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Audiologists in the Rehabilitation Services Department. The Technician assumes responsibility for the following: inventory and distribution of supplies and linen; equipment cleaning, routine operational checks, assisting patient care, assisting therapist with medical record and billing compliance, and performing other duties as assigned.
Distributes linen and supplies daily. Ensures appropriate levels throughout the day.
On a weekly basis checks inventory of supplies and completes supply and form orders. Upon delivery to the department, distributes the supplies to the appropriate areas.
Routinely checks that equipment is in its proper place and operating correctly.
Routinely cleans exercise mats, treatment tables, exercise equipment, etc. Cleans therapy equipment per cleaning schedule.
Routinely changes linen on exercise mats and treatment tables and returns equipment/supplies to their appropriate storage areas to promote an orderly department appearance.
Assists patients with dressing, changing and/or hygiene.
Assists therapist, as a second pair of hands, with whirlpool treatments including the removal and application of dressings.
Assists therapist, as second pair of hands, with transfers, ambulation, exercise, patient positioning, and preparation of modalities.
Assists with mobilizing and transporting patients, phone coverage, patient scheduling, filing, and form collection and distribution for medical record and billing compliance.
Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Education:
High school graduate or the equivalent.Certifications:
CPR certification.Complexity of Work:
Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft software.
Ability to use Chart Maxx, Spectrasoft Scheduling System, AGMC Intranet, and AGMC HIS computer programs.
Initiative and judgment to make routine discriminations, schedule work, prepare reports, check accuracy and set time limits.
Ability to perform work requiring sustained physical effort.
Courteous, cooperative and capable of working harmoniously with patients and staff.
Work Experience:
Interest in career in rehabilitation preferred.
Previous work experience with direct patient contact preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to render services including moving, lifting, occasionally transporting, and assisting with the mobility of patients.
