Job Summary
The Staff Pharmacist is a member of the health care team whose specific knowledge and professional skills are directed toward the appropriate and effective use of medication in the treatment of the patients’ medical problems. The Staff Pharmacist reviews medication orders for appropriateness, dispenses medications, and maintains required documentation. In addition, the Staff Pharmacist will consult with and provide drug information to other members of the hospital to ensure the correct use of medications.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
B.S. or Pharm. D. degree from an accredited college/university of pharmacy required.
Licensure/
Certification
Licensed to practice pharmacy in North Carolina or eligible for licensure. May accept a board eligible graduate for up to 120 days prior to licensure.
Experience
One year experience as a hospital pharmacist preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrated knowledge of clinical pharmacy best practices, policies, procedures and regulations.
· Exhibits knowledge and a basic understanding regarding the age specific needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric and geriatric patients.
· Ability to serve as a positive role model who collaborates well with all teammates.
· Ability to provide excellent customer service to all patients and teammates.
· Innovative thinking, self-initiative, planning and organizational skills required.
· Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
· Proficient with MS Office applications, pharmacy software, and able to learn new software rapidly.
· Ability to tolerate latex products and exposure to hazardous drugs.
· Ability to stand or walk on uncarpeted floors for duration of shift.
