  The Opportunity

  As a dedicated Software Engineer - Intermediate , you will within defined guidelines and framework, provides support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

  The candidate selected for this position is going to get work with the Mobile Infrastructure Team in USAA’s Enterprise Digital Technology organization.

  We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following location(s): Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  What you'll do:

  Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions

  Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis

  Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques

  Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

  Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.

  Follows the software development lifecycle.

  Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

  What you have:

  Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree ORApproved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).

  2 years of software development experience specific to a discipline/technology.

  1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.

  Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL

  Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.

  Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to provide appropriate Engineering solutions

  Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

  Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.

  What sets you apart:

  Beginner to intermediate knowledge of the Kotlin and Java programming languages.

  Beginner to intermediate Understanding of Android architectural best practices, principles, and design patterns

  Understanding of Android API and App/UI Lifecycle, Service API, and HTTP interaction

  Experience working with complex architecture, security (mobile or other) and back end mobile work experience

  Experience creating libraries and frameworks for use by other developers

  US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional]

  What we offer:

  Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $78,800.00 - $141,830.00 .

  Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
