  Our System Software Engineers work with the hundreds of thousands of virtual machines that host petabytes of data for our customers around the world. In this role, You will help to bring new networking technologies into our infrastructure, identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, and intimately understand the overall software stack that makes us tick.

  As a System Software Engineer II , you will be responsible for:

  Identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks.

  Becoming a Linux Kernel expert on the product development team.

  Creating and maintaining integrations between our hardware and APIs.

  Understanding the overall software stack that makes us tick.

  Working in an environment that fosters innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication.

  Do what you love

  To be successful in this role you will:

  Have 3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field

  Write efficient clean code with Perl.

  Possess prior working experience in network software development and/or systems engineering

  Demonstrate experience with QEMU, KVM nftables, and ebtables.

  Compensation

  Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $93,656 - $140,803/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
